Chances are that Edgar Martinez went cheaply in your league. He did in the American Dreams League, which is why I own him. Well, not that cheaply, but as one of the last everyday hitters available I felt obliged to take him at $21.
He’s no longer an everyday hitter, alas, which reminds us why we have to be careful taking 39 year olds.
Edgar has looked bad so far this year. He looked feeble striking out three times against Oakland last Sunday, and this week the strikeouts continued. He was also caught stealing and thrown out at the plate.
They don’t know how bad the hammy is right now, but the sense is that it’s going to be a while. We’ll know more by monday.
