Mark Loretta is showing up on a lot of depth charts as the Brewers’ third baseman, but Bob Nightengale reports in this week’s Baseball Weekly that the Brewers are trying to unload his salary and will take little in return to move him.
Loretta has been sidelined with pneumonia but has started to play. A Loretta who doesn’t play or a Belliard who does isn’t going to win or lose you a title, but taking a Belliard who plays over a Loretta who doesn’t could prove a nice little bargain. And, of course, Tyler Houston is in the mix, too.
