I’m preparing for the Tout Wars draft. In an experts league there isn’t much hope of sneaking guys through. If nothing else the experts know who everyone is. Sitting at such a draft trying to find bargains is fruitless. Everybody but the most expensive players are bid to par, and even those high-priced bargains don’t go cheap.
Last year (you can see my team at the link above) I targeted a team full of hitters I thought would break out, the guys I’d been touting, plus a staff of pitchers who stood to gain from the New Strike Zone. To read my post draft analysis go here.
This year I’m looking at something similar, but a little different.
In 2001, the 20 players who had the biggest increase in value from 1999 to 2000, earned -$276 less than they had in 2000.
And the 20 players who had the biggest decreases in value from 1999 to 2000, earned $121 more in 2001 than they had in 2000, even though three of them retired.
Can I put together a team of big losers for 2002? Stay tuned.
